Principal - Private Debt & Equity

Our primary client, Northwestern Mutual, has a longstanding commitment to investing in private equity and privately placed investment grade debt.

The Principal is responsible for the analysis, evaluation, and execution of private debt and equity investment opportunities offered to Northwestern Mutual Capital, LLC (NMC) by investment bankers, issuers, and private equity sponsors. Specific responsibilities include financial modeling and valuation analysis, completion of investment recommendation memos, conducting of industry and business due diligence. Meet with senior-level executives, investment bankers, and private equity sponsors to obtain a thorough understanding of the investment merits of the transaction. Monitor transactions in the NMC portfolio and for completing workouts of non-performing investments. Training is largely on-the-job in nature. Operate in a team environment and receive increasing responsibility over time.

Qualifications

• MBA with a concentration in finance.
• A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a wide range of industries, proficiency in accounting, and strong computer modeling skills are also required.
• The ability to communicate, orally and in writing effectively with corporate executives, attorneys, senior members of NMC and its parent company, and members of the investment community are also required.
• Previous relevant work experience is a plus.
• Professional designations (CFA, CPA) or progress toward them is also a plus.
