LaMay Property Development pushes the boundaries of remodeling and is seeking a Full-Time Carpenter to join our growing team. This role requires someone who enjoys the challenge of problem-solving inherent in remodeling projects. Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints to execute carpentry tasks in excellence.
  • Follow task lists and work independently to complete assignments.
  • Drive your own vehicle to job sites daily.
  • Install wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists, and stud work.
  • Design and install cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall, and insulation.
  • Add fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures.
  • Select lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer’s budget and style.
  • Calculate the number of fasteners required for each job.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and other construction professionals.
  • Work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects, and building code recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in carpentry.
  • General construction industry experience and knowledge of construction sites
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Measuring and cutting materials accurately
  • Strong understanding of reading blueprints and executing carpentry tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on task lists.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Skills in installing wooden structures, designing and installing furniture, adding fixtures and fittings, and sourcing appropriate materials.
  • Experienced in finish carpentry and millwork/trim work.
  • Experience using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws, and nail guns.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and codes.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade school or apprenticeship completion preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in carpentry, with a focus on interior remodeling.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in various conditions (e.g., heights, confined spaces).
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling.
