Job Title: Product Designer - Specialized 4 (Footwear)
Location: Beaverton, Or (Onsite, 4/1 Hybrid)
Duration: 8 Months
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Field Sports footwear design team, focused on cleated footwear (cricket, football, baseball). The nature of the work is focused on research and development of products from conception to retail to meet the needs of accounts and consumers.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
A specialized footwear designer who can own technical, performance-driven projects independently — strong on concept building, flexible in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON
• Ideation & Visioning — Generates new ways of thinking about aspects of performance based products that result in growth opportunities and competitive advantages in the marketplace.
• Develops ideas that are consistent with the vision for new products by collaborating with product creation on the genesis of new product concepts for all the Company's business units.
• Research/Engineering — defines protocol and establishes scope of testing required to prove and validate a concept.
• In line with advanced knowledge of the consumer, business, and performance requirements, develops concrete insights which feed into the development of advanced product concepts through the use of new technologies or construction processes.
• Delivers proof of concept by turning concepts and new product visions into reality.
• Identifies key elements of product construction materials and processes. Engineers prototypes.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH
• Project Management — Leads innovation projects turning concept ideation into reality by working in, or with, multi-disciplinary teams to include product creation, manufacturing, and 3rd party vendors.
• Meets complex challenges with imaginative state of the art approaches supported by feasible solutions.
• Communication — drafts reports and presents results and market concepts at the functional department level.
• Clearly and concisely communicates the knowledge required and best practices assist transition of technology to product.
MUST-HAVE
• Ability to handle projects independently that are technical and performance-driven.
• Strong concept building skills.
• Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Flexibility/maturity to pivot and prioritize responsibilities as needed.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
• Portfolio demonstrating performance/footwear design work (required with application).
• Minimum 7+ years' directly relevant experience in a footwear designer role (preferred).
NICE-TO-HAVE
• 3D rendering experience.
• Use of AI tools (i.e. Vizcom) for conceptual generation.
• Experience working in a large, matrix organization.
• Degree in design or related field (preferred, not required).
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS
• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 or 9 years directly relevant work experience. Note: One of the following alternatives may be accepted: PhD or Law + 6 yrs; Masters + 7 yrs; Associate degree + 9 yrs; High School + 10 yrs.
