Client is seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting operations through policy processing, administrative underwriting tasks, and email triage.
The Underwriting Assistant works closely with underwriting teams to ensure accurate, timely processing of policies while adhering to established guidelines and procedures. This role includes comprehensive training, quality review, and the opportunity to gain additional authority as experience and proficiency increase.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform entry-level underwriting support tasks, including:
- Policy binds
- Endorsements
- Cancellations
- Process work through a queue-based workflow, ensuring deadlines and service standards are met
- Triage, review, and route incoming emails within a shared Outlook inbox
- Accurately enter, update, and validate policy and underwriting information
- Follow documented underwriting procedures and compliance standards
- Participate in side-by-side training, followed by ongoing quality review
- Gradually take on expanded responsibility as underwriting authority is earned
- Collaborate with underwriting and operations teams to support daily business needs
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience in the insurance industry or insurance operations (preferred)
- Experience working in a production or process-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Consistent employment history demonstrating reliability and commitment
- Willingness to learn and grow within underwriting operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the insurance policy lifecycle (binds, endorsements, cancellations)
- Prior support experience in underwriting, policy administration, or insurance servicing
- Experience working from queues or shared inboxes
- Interest in pursuing a long-term career in insurance underwriting or operations
