Geographic Information Systems Analyst

Job Description:

We are seeking a GIS Analyst to join a collaborative and supportive GIS team supporting internal business partners. This role is a backfill position and will focus on handling day-to-day GIS and data requests, map creation, and analysis work. The analyst will work with enterprise GIS systems and large datasets in a fast-paced, ticket-driven environment.

Team

You will be part of a close-knit GIS team consisting of specialists with varying levels of experience. The team culture is highly collaborative and supportive, with frequent knowledge sharing and problem-solving through chat and team collaboration tools. While independence is encouraged, teamwork is central to success in this group.

What You Will Be Doing / Working On

• Supporting internal teams with GIS and data-related requests
• Extracting and validating data for reporting and regulatory needs
• Creating specialized and interactive maps using Esri / ArcGIS tools
• Performing data analysis using tools such as Python and Databricks
• Managing work assignments through JIRA, completing tasks in priority order
• Starting with straightforward data extraction tasks and progressing to more complex analysis and mapping work as ramp-up occurs
• Learning and working within proprietary GIS and utility systems (training provided)

Must-Have Skills

• Experience with Esri / ArcGIS products
• Python for data analysis and automation
• Strong background in data extraction, reporting, and analysis
• Experience working with Databricks or large-scale data platforms
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous tasks
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Background in GIS, Geography, or Geospatial studies
• Utility industry experience (gas or electric preferred)
• Experience with GE Smallworld, MAGIC, or SAP
• Prior experience supporting enterprise GIS environments
