Business Development Manager – OR Medical Sales – Capital Equipment
This position offers full benefits, job stability, great earning potential, an option for a non-recoverable draw (so you’re coming on-board “whole” and growth potential. It is a home-office based position, so you can work remotely when not traveling. We are looking for candidates based in in the Midwestern United States. Note that this is a role where this person is managing sales in a territory, not managing a staff.
Please note: Candidates MUST be able to travel regularly – up to around 70% of the time.
Job Overview
Assist in the development and sale of Capital Equipment Medical Devices for Hospitals, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, VA and DOD Facilities, physicians, and providers. This person will work from home when not on the road.
Job Responsibilities
• Sets up customer visits to observe capital equipment being used and discuss various aspects of equipment use and emphasizes salable features.
• Quotes pricing and various financial options and communicates with operations to help prepare sales contracts.
• Collaborate with Territory Managers, Associate Managers, and Service managers in a daily / weekly basis.
• Travels throughout assigned territory to call on prospective customers regarding capital budget timelines, project status updates, room measurements, and overall status updates.
• Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from cold calling, telemarketing leads, trade show responses, business directories, and other sources.
• Strong Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and over email with people outside of the organization on daily basis that are located within Hospitals, Doctor’s offices, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, VA Facilities, and DOD Facilities.
• Strong Ability to communicate effectively over the phone and via email with people inside of the organization on daily basis.
• Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense account up to date.
• Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining salesforce activities and opportunities.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Business Development Manager
Must-Have Items:
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university preferred, ideally in business, marketing, communications, or life science.
• Capital equipment sales experience such as C-ARMs, MRI, Robotics, Imaging Systems, etc.
• 5 years of outside sales B2B experience, ideally some of which is in the medical device field.
• Frequent travel is required (70% is expected)
o Typical work-related travel will be a range of 1-3 days per week.
o Overnight and out-of-town stays are required.
o Airline Travel is required
• Candidates must live reasonably close to a major airport (within an hour or so)
Nice-to-have Items:
- Any exposure to the urology space is a "plus"
Compensation:
- Total yearly earnings (base commissions) are expected to be in the $300K neighborhood.
