What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bankruptcy Paralegal position at HIRESIGMA?
Required Skills:
- Minimum five years of bankruptcy legal assistant or paralegal experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and filing documents in the bankruptcy courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California.
- Experience preparing and filing motions for relief from the automatic stay, reaffirmation agreements, proofs of claim, objections to Chapter 13 plans, and complaints for non-dischargeability.
- Strong familiarity with CM/ECF filing procedures.
- Ability to review court dockets and identify relevant deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow attorney instructions carefully.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Preferred: Creditor-side bankruptcy experience, experience working with financial institutions, lenders, credit unions, or auto finance matters, familiarity with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy procedures, knowledge of California bankruptcy local rules and judge-specific procedures, experience preparing exhibits, declarations, proposed orders, and service documents.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal education preferred, but not required with sufficient experience.
