What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician position at HirePower?
We’re seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our client’s team. In this vital role, you’ll ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, and maintained—supporting patient safety and infection control at every step.
What You’ll Do
- Decontaminate, clean, and reassemble surgical instruments following ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, and SOPs
- Assemble and package instrument trays accurately and efficiently
- Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage
- Maintain records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep work areas organized
- Communicate effectively with team members and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certifications and competencies
What We’re Looking For
- Skills: Knowledge of sterile processing standards, detail-oriented, safety-focused, organized, strong teamwork and communication
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certifications: Sterile Processing Technician certification (CRCST, CIS) preferred
