We are seeking a results-oriented construction professional with a strong background in estimating civil sitework, earthwork, utility, infrastructure, foundation, and related construction projects. This role is ideal for an individual who can transform complex construction plans into accurate, competitive, and profitable project estimates while supporting strategic business growth.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate project risks, labor requirements, equipment utilization, material costs, and subcontractor pricing. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to develop comprehensive cost estimates that support successful project execution and competitive bid strategies.

Job Description

The Estimator (Civil Construction) will be responsible for preparing detailed project estimates, evaluating construction costs, and supporting bidding activities for civil construction and site development projects. This role requires collaboration with project managers, field operations teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and leadership to ensure accurate project forecasting and cost planning.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and project requirements.
• Performing quantity takeoffs and developing comprehensive cost estimates.
• Evaluating labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and production costs.
• Analyzing project risks, constructability considerations, and market conditions.
• Soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor pricing proposals.
• Supporting bid preparation, bid submissions, and proposal development activities.
• Assisting with project budgeting, cost forecasting, and estimate validation.
• Maintaining estimating databases, cost histories, and pricing resources.
• Collaborating with operations teams to align estimates with project execution strategies.
• Identifying opportunities to improve competitiveness, efficiency, and profitability.
• Monitoring industry pricing trends and construction market conditions.
• Supporting preconstruction planning and project development efforts.

Compensation:

• $80,000 - $130,000 annually

HireNow Staffing is recruiting experienced Civil Construction Estimators who possess the technical expertise, construction knowledge, and analytical capabilities required to support complex sitework, civil infrastructure, and foundation construction projects.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience within civil construction, sitework, earthwork, utility, infrastructure, foundation, or related construction sectors.
• Proven experience preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Proficiency utilizing estimating software, takeoff tools, and construction estimating platforms.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documentation.
• Ability to evaluate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and estimate accuracy.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
• Experience collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• No current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Four to five years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction environments.
• Experience supporting infrastructure, roadway, utility, foundation, excavation, or large-scale site development projects.
• Experience estimating deep foundation, earth retention, or excavation-related work.
• Strong subcontractor and supplier relationship management experience.
• Advanced proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff platforms.
• Experience supporting preconstruction and project planning activities.
• Knowledge of construction productivity metrics and cost benchmarking.
• Demonstrated employment stability and progressive estimating responsibilities.
• Experience supporting multi-million-dollar construction projects.

The strongest candidates will demonstrate extensive civil construction estimating experience, advanced takeoff and cost analysis capabilities, strong market awareness, and a proven ability to produce accurate, competitive estimates. Candidates with heavy civil, infrastructure, sitework, foundation, or deep excavation experience, combined with stable employment histories and strong subcontractor pricing knowledge, will receive priority consideration.

• Candidates with frequent job changes, excessive employment gaps, or unstable work histories will not be accepted or interviewed.
• No estimating experience.
• Experience limited primarily to residential construction or unrelated industries.
• No civil construction, sitework, infrastructure, excavation, or foundation-related experience.
• No experience performing quantity takeoffs or utilizing estimating software.
• Limited understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Inability to work onsite in Elk River, Minnesota.
• Requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Failure to meet the required qualifications listed above.
