Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft, including inspections, repairs, and overhauls in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and industry standards such as AS9100.
- Conduct detailed troubleshooting using schematics, wiring diagrams, CAD drawings, and technical manuals to identify root causes of mechanical or electrical issues.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, ammeters, ohmmeters), and welding equipment to execute repairs on airframes, avionics systems, sheet metal components, and power systems.
- Disassemble and reassemble aircraft components with attention to detail while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Use coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other manufacturing tools for precise fabrication and inspection of parts.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities within Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) ensuring compliance with FAA regulations.
- Fabricate or modify parts using sheet metal techniques, soldering skills, welding, or other fabrication methods as needed.
- Perform heavy lifting safely while handling aircraft components or equipment during maintenance procedures.
- Assist in the calibration of instruments such as ammeters and multimeters to ensure measurement accuracy during troubleshooting.
- Support equipment repair initiatives by diagnosing electrical or mechanical faults in aircraft systems or ground support equipment.
- Follow strict safety guidelines related to aviation maintenance practices including adherence to FAA regulations and industry standards like AS9100.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly projects involving airframes or vehicle maintenance tasks requiring precision fabrication and assembly skills.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems including airframe structures, avionics, electrical wiring schematics, and power distribution.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA or AutoCAD for technical drawings and schematics interpretation.
- Strong root cause analysis skills to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently.
- Experience working within manufacturing environments with a focus on quality standards like AS9100 certification requirements.
- Familiarity with military-grade equipment or systems is a plus; experience in vehicle or heavy machinery maintenance is beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (including soldering), calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) governing aircraft maintenance operations.
- Electrical experience related to avionics systems integration or troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge applicable to aircraft structures or ground support equipment repair.
- Experience using coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for inspection tasks.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms for maintaining detailed service records.
