Position: First Assistant Scrub Tech. / Surgical Tech.

Location: Parker, AZ 85344

Pay: $55/hr.

Duration: 13-Week Contract with possible extension

Schedule: 7 AM to 3 PM | 40 hours weekly | Monday - Friday, alternate / every other weekend is required

Overview: The ideal candidate must have strong surgical first assist experience and be skilled in general surgery, podiatry, and orthopedics. This role supports surgeons during procedures and may include performing standard surgical tech duties as needed. A high level of professionalism, clinical expertise, and attention to safety is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as the surgical first assistant under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, following all hospital policies and regulations.

• Anticipate the surgeon's needs during the intraoperative phase to ensure efficient workflow.

• Maintain care of instruments and equipment during intraoperative and postoperative phases, including proper cleaning and processing.

• Complete all operating room counts accurately and follow required protocols for resolving discrepancies.

• Maintain strict aseptic technique during treatments and procedures.

• Set up, scrub, and prepare rooms and instruments at least 15 minutes before scheduled procedures unless directed otherwise.

• Keep instrument tables organized and sterile to ensure efficiency during procedures.

• Assist with applying sutures, staples, clips, and drainage systems, and clamp or cauterize vessels to control bleeding.

• Prepare the surgical field, including draping, hair removal, and disinfecting the incision site.

• Assist with room turnover as part of the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician Program and an accredited First Assist Program.

• Current Certification as a Surgical Technician/First Assist.

• Current BLS Certification, or able to obtain it post-offer

• At least 2 years of relevant experience is preferred

• Previous experience in general surgery, podiatry, and orthopedics is highly preferred
