About this Role:
As the head of engineering, the Director is tasked with overseeing all equipment and facilities at the business site. Their role involves leading and managing a team responsible for key activities, such as reliability engineering and process automation, in support of daily site and software development projects. Responsibilities:
· Assume responsibility of the service team, which includes overseeing their performance and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
· Effectively manage staff through respectful communication, clear expectations, relevant training, productive coaching, and holding regular team meetings.
· Lead by example, delegate work as appropriate, and monitor and evaluate employees' successful completion of work.
· Encourage effective teamwork and ensure responsible management of the department budget.
· Assist in preparation of long-range planning and budget recommendations and ensure that punch out work is completed in accordance with company standards.
· Maintain up-to-date and accurate logs and schedules of preventative maintenance, remove snow, and manage ice when applicable.
· Ensure that team members attend required and on-going training and conduct regular department and safety meetings.
· Conduct performance appraisals and counseling sessions, as well as providing new team members with briefings on procedures, goals, and property news.
· Review and monitor all timecards, supplement logs, punch out sheets, service requests, and on-call logs.
· Carry all necessary equipment, such as keys, phone, pager, tools, and radio, and required tasks.
· Oversee the scheduling and management of appropriate contracts and ensure that the pool and surrounding areas, as well as the parking garage/areas, are maintained to property standards.
· Other duties include maintaining the shop, company equipment, and ensuring ample supplies, inventory control, and key security.
· Monitor fire extinguishers, sprinklers, and standpipe systems and performing hands-on maintenance as needed.
· Be prepared to respond and act in emergency situations, following corporate/property emergency procedures.
· Acknowledge guests and respond to their needs promptly, ensuring that unresolved incidents are reported to the Manager/Supervisor.
· Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
· Work collaboratively with others to analyze and improve work processes and stay abreast of industry trends.
· Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office and adhere to all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
· Work collaboratively with all levels of management and vendors, develop and adhere to an annual action plan/capital project list, have a disaster recovery system in place, and contribute to team/company engagement efforts.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
Qualifications
· Lead and motivate a team of at least 5 members effectively.
· Understand each team member's job description and ensure compliance with national and local building codes, safety codes, and labor laws including safe work practices, sexual harassment prevention, ADA, and other regulations.
· Adhere to corporation and property standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, OSHA, personnel appearance, maintenance etiquette, and tool requirements.
· Maintain high productivity to control costs.
· Understand contract requirements.
· Have thorough knowledge and understanding of preventative maintenance.
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Compute basic arithmetic and mathematical calculations.
· Be organized and detail-oriented.
· Manage time effectively.
· Have excellent interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills.
· Work effectively under high-pressure situations while ensuring guest satisfaction.
