CNC Machinist Turning – Aerospace Components

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team, specializing in the setup and operation of CNC machines for high-precision aerospace components. This role is critical in ensuring parts meet exact specifications and quality standards, particularly within the turbine engine segment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC machines on trial runs to verify machine settings and programmed control data.

• Interpret travelers, operation sheets, blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and manuals to determine part dimensions, tolerances, setup requirements, and machining sequences.

• Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials to machines for optimal part machining.

• Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using precision measuring and inspection tools.

• Maintain and care for calibrated measuring instruments and ensure timely return for scheduled calibrations.

• Ensure proper CNC/DNC program operation and monitor machine performance to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; make necessary adjustments.

• Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production staff to resolve machining challenges.

• Accurately document completed work on travelers and within the shop floor system, maintaining accountability and quality.

• Handle all components with care, adhering to all quality and safety standards.

• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned machinery.

• Maintain clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of CNC setup and operation experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

• Experience with complex aerospace parts, including turbine engine components or overhaul/repair work, is highly preferred.

• Strong blueprint reading skills and proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).

• Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, and communicate clearly.

• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

• Must be able to lift or move components (with assistance) up to 50 lbs.

• Must possess visual acuity for close detail, distance, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
