The Senior Accountant will support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, revenue accounting, cost allocation, audit support, and process improvement initiatives.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely reporting, and ensuring accounting processes align with GAAP and internal policies. This person will work closely with teams across Operations, Revenue Cycle, Compliance, and FP&A to help ensure the financial statements accurately reflect business performance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment where priorities can shift quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Lead and support components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed asset entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and support consolidation processes as needed.
- Assist with monthly financial statements, internal reporting packages, and management reporting.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Revenue & Accounts Receivable Accounting
- Support revenue recognition processes in accordance with ASC 606.
- Reconcile revenue, accounts receivable, adjustments, denials, write-offs, and related activity.
- Partner with internal teams to validate financial impacts tied to payer activity, reimbursement trends, and operational changes.
- Assist in improving visibility and accuracy around revenue cycle-related accounting processes.
Cost Accounting & Operational Support
- Reconcile cost of goods sold, inventory activity, supplies, and other operational expenses.
- Partner with operations to analyze usage variances, cost allocations, and cost-per-service trends.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation entries, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Support accurate allocation of expenses across departments, locations, or service lines.
Compliance, Controls & Audit Support
- Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules, documentation, reconciliations, and explanations.
- Support process improvements to strengthen financial controls and streamline workflows.
- Help ensure accounting documentation is accurate, organized, and audit-ready.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Assist with ERP optimization, reporting improvements, and workflow enhancements.
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives across Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Operations.
- Collaborate with FP&A and other departments to improve data integrity and reporting efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and create scalable accounting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, diagnostics, revenue cycle, or another regulated industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; experience with ASC 606 preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems required; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
