CNC Manual Machinist

Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional machine tools to produce precision parts according to blueprints and specifications. This role requires hands-on machining experience, blueprint reading, and the ability to hold tight tolerances while ensuring quality workmanship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate manual machine tools including lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders.

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining operations, dimensions, and tolerances.

• Work to specified dimensions and verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments.

• Adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling for optimal performance.

• Edit or make simple program adjustments as needed.

• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work area organized and clean.

• Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and maintain production schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating manual/conventional machines.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.

• Strong knowledge of machining math, measurements, and tolerances.

• Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measures, etc.).

• Ability to make minor edits or write simple programs as needed.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Exposure to noise, oil, and metal shavings typical of a machining environment.

• Must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
