Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage acute and life-threatening emergencies.
- Perform advanced emergency procedures: intubation, central line placement, cricothyrotomy, pericardiocentesis, and more.
- Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the VA's electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in quality improvement, compliance, and peer review activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, Veteran-centered care.
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM).
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
- Minimum 5 years of recent ED experience preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Valid DEA registration (if prescribing controlled substances).
- Strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Completion of Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) upon hire.
- Quarterly OPPE evaluations.
- Compliance with ACEP guidelines for emergency care.
- Annual HIPAA training and VA EHR competency required.
