Overview
A fast-growing civil construction firm is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support its expanding site and utility development division. This newly created position is part of a broader strategy to meet increasing demand across the Southeast. The ideal candidate will play a key role in estimating private sector civil projects with a focus on clearing, grading, drainage, water, sewer, and aggregate base work.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare full-service cost estimates for heavy civil site and utility development projects

Review construction plans and specifications; perform detailed quantity take-offs

Conduct scope clarification, risk assessment, and value engineering

Attend pre-bid meetings and evaluate project-specific requirements

Source, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and vendor quotes

Present budgets, proposals, and reports to internal teams

Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure project alignment

Mentor junior estimators and take-off personnel as needed

Maintain and grow client and vendor relationships, particularly in negotiated (non-low-bid) work
Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experience estimating private heavy civil and utility development projects

Proven expertise in clearing, grading, drainage, water/sewer, and base construction

Proficient in HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Strong math and analytical skills, including geometry and arithmetic

Ability to navigate and interpret construction plans and specifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Positive, outgoing attitude—ideal for relationship-driven, negotiated work

Experience leading or mentoring junior team members

Stable career history with progressive growth and strong references

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred, not required)

Valid driver’s license and US work authorization
