What are the responsibilities and job description for the Team Lead – Steam Turbine Valve Technician position at Hire Dynamics?
- Lead daily work activities for the valve technician team, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Perform and oversee precise measurement of components using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
- Verify equipment and workpiece dimensions to ensure conformance with engineering specifications.
- Operate and guide team members in the use of cutting, grinding, machining, and related equipment.
- Lead the dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of steam turbine valves, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to determine repair sequences and specifications.
- Serve as primary point of contact with Supervisors, Project Engineers, and other departments to review work scope, scheduling, resource needs, and technical requirements.
- Provide hands-on support in fitting, assembling, welding, and machining of components as required.
- Support planning, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and testing activities for all valve repair projects.
- Ensure proper disposal of scrap and waste materials in accordance with company and environmental standards.
- Verify that production and quality documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure team compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate technicians to improve skill levels and support career development.
- Ensure shift-to-shift continuity through clear documentation and communication of work status.
Position Requirements:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in turbine valve maintenance and repair.
- Ability to lead and coach a team, assigning tasks based on skill level and project needs.
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools and technical interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience maintaining, dismantling, and installing industrial machinery, with specific experience on steam turbine valves preferred.
- Prior experience in a lead or senior technician role strongly preferred.
- Trade school, vocational training, or related technical certifications are a plus.
- Manual machining or welding experience preferred but not required.
