The Institute provides holistic wellness programs, detox and transformation retreats, raw‑vegan organic cuisine, health and nutrition consultations, anti‑aging therapies, fitness classes, spa treatments, advanced testing services, and 24/7 nursing support.
The organization operates as a large multidisciplinary enterprise with 51–200 employees spanning hospitality, wellness services, medical support, education, culinary, administration, and more.
Position Summary
The Finance Director / CPA is the senior financial leader responsible for safeguarding the financial health of Hippocrates Wellness. This role oversees budgeting, accounting, financial planning, compliance, reporting, and long-term fiscal strategy across all departments—including hospitality, wellness services, culinary operations, facilities, security, HR, technology, and sales & marketing.
The Finance Director ensures that financial operations are aligned with the institute’s mission-driven environment, balancing business sustainability, regulatory compliance, and investment in world‑class wellness programs and eco‑conscious campus operations.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the institute’s financial strategy to support its mission as a global wellness leader offering transformative health programs.
- Advise executive leadership and the General Manager on financial forecasting, revenue models, and long-term business planning.
- Guide financial decisions around therapeutic programming, eco-conscious facilities, education initiatives, and guest services.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Management
- Lead the development of annual budgets across all departments (hospitality, culinary, wellness, facilities, security, sales/marketing, HR).
- Monitor revenue streams from program enrollment, therapies, accommodations, spa services, and retail offerings connected to the institute’s wellness programs.
- Ensure financial planning supports the Life Transformation Program, Vitality Passport, and other premium wellness services
3. Accounting Oversight & Audit Compliance
- Manage all accounting functions, including GL, AR/AP, payroll, fixed assets, and financial closes.
- Oversee internal controls to ensure accurate, GAAP‑aligned accounting practices.
- Prepare documentation for annual financial audits and ensure all compliance standards are met.
4. Financial Reporting & Performance Management
- Deliver timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to executive leadership.
- Analyze key performance metrics such as occupancy, program enrollment trends, therapy utilization, revenue per guest, cost of services, and labor efficiency.
- Use data insights to guide leaders across wellness, hospitality, culinary, and facilities departments.
5. Revenue Optimization & Business Modeling
- Evaluate pricing strategies for detox programs, longevity therapies, spa treatments, fitness offerings, and raw‑vegan culinary services.
- Partner with Sales & Marketing to assess campaign ROI, revenue projections, and demand forecasting for global wellness travelers.
- Support new program development by modeling profitability and long-term sustainability.
6. Regulatory, Tax & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with federal and Florida state tax regulations, nonprofit requirements (if applicable), employment law impacts, and healthcare-related regulations tied to wellness services.
- Maintain accurate tax filings, corporate compliance documentation, and regulatory reporting.
7. Cash Flow, Treasury & Asset Management
- Oversee cash flow planning, treasury operations, and liquidity management to support ongoing wellness services and capital needs.
- Manage the financial aspects of capital improvements across the 50–55 acre campus, including upgrades to therapy facilities, lodging, fitness centers, pools/saunas, and eco‑conscious systems.
8. Cross‑Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with the General Manager and all departmental directors.
- Support:
- Hospitality (guest services, lodging operations)
- Wellness Services (therapies, fitness, consultations)
- Culinary (raw‑vegan menu operations)
- Facilities (campus maintenance, eco-conscious upgrades)
- Sales & Marketing (campaign budgets, ROI planning)
- HR / People & Culture (compensation analysis, staffing budgets)
- Security (campus safety investments)
- Technologies & Innovation (digital upgrades, platform investments)
9. Risk Management & Internal Controls
- Implement and maintain financial risk management strategies, including insurance oversight, fraud prevention, and operational risk controls.
- Conduct financial assessments for programs involving detox, specialized therapies, and physical facilities.
Required Qualifications
- CPA license (active).
- Nonprofit accounting and finance background.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Master’s preferred.
- 7–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in hospitality, healthcare, wellness resorts, nonprofit organizations, or multi‑department campus environments.
- Strong technical proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting operational leadership in service‑based or program‑driven organizations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in wellness resorts, integrative health centers, or medical wellness operations.
- Familiarity with detox, plant-based nutrition, therapeutic programming, or health‑education models.
- Prior work with sustainability-focused or eco-conscious business models.
- Experience with donor or nonprofit accounting is a plus (if applicable to organizational structure).
