Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offers a collaborative work environment, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in supporting attorneys in a busy litigation practice.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Draft, format, and edit legal documents and correspondence, including pleadings, motions, letters, and memoranda from typed, handwritten, and dictated materials
- File pleadings and other documents electronically with federal and state courts
- Maintain and organize litigation files, including indexing pleadings, managing deposition materials, and preparing exhibits
- Track case deadlines and maintain attorney calendars to ensure timely filings and case management
- Schedule meetings, depositions, conferences, and other litigation-related events
- Coordinate attorney travel arrangements when necessary
- Enter and finalize billable time entries
- Respond to client and third-party inquiries under attorney direction
- Provide additional administrative and litigation support as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of litigation legal assistant experience or strong computer skills and a desire to learn
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with electronic court filing systems
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Professional demeanor and commitment to client service
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime as needed
