Job Summary
To provide a safe, nurturing environment with enriching developmentally activities that provide opportunities for recreation, social development and creative exploration for children.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Plan age and developmentally appropriate activities for assigned classes with team teachers. The activities will include indoor and outdoor activities allowing for the children to make choices as well as participation in activities. Plan and prepare snacks for the children.
- Implement the daily program with the help of the other Teachers and Assistant Teachers (to include daily attendance and release of children to parents or designated adult). Decorate the KIA space with appropriate display areas using the childrens’ artwork and projects
- Keep all KIA spaces clean, neat and well organized. Participate equally in the daily set-up and breakdown of the physical shared space.
- Be familiar with and follow all Kids In Action policies and procedures, including the chain of command.
- Report to Team Leader any special needs, problems or suspected child abuse or neglect of individual children.
- Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the HPS and EEC policies on discipline. 2024
- Attend all staff meetings, planning sessions and evaluations
- Participate in all-school activities including the family night, orientations, staff meetings, planning meetings, PD and workdays
- Maintain open communication and good working relations with team members and co-workers. Be a team player: Be flexible. Take initiative in planning and in daily scheduling. Maintain communication with parents regarding their child’s interactions while at Kids In Action.
- Complete CPR/First Aid Training, EEC Strong Start PDs & 10 additional Professional Development hour Complete CPR/First Aid Training, EEC Strong Start PDs & 10 additional Professional Development hours.
Qualifications
- Certified in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a Bachelor's Degree in a related area.
- Experience in classroom teaching or camp leader experience.
