Job Summary
The Assistant Finance & Accounting Manager supports the Finance and Accounting department by assisting in the oversight of the daily financial operations, preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance. The responsibilities outlined below are not an exhaustive list and there may be additional responsibilities assigned.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and review the weekly Accounts Payable warrant.
- Review, analyze, and maintain accounting for the School Department across all account types, including General Fund, Special Programs, Vocational, Food Service, Athletics, MSBA projects, and other revolving accounts.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
- Assist with the oversight of purchasing, requisitions, and purchase order processes.
- Ensure compliance with procurement laws and district policies.
- Assist with administering and monitoring state and federal grants, including Circuit Breaker and grant reimbursement requests.
- Track and monitor energy and utility expenditures.
- Investigate and resolve accounting issues or discrepancies.
- Support the tracking of Special Education tuition and transportation costs and Medicaid reporting and processing.
- Enter and review requisitions and purchase orders as needed.
- Interact tactfully and professionally with co-workers, school department personnel, town departments, vendors, and the general public.
- Assist the Manager with the year-end financial close process, including:
- Ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded
- Reviewing journal entries
- Reconciling account balances
- Reviewing purchase orders and carry-overs
- Preparing reports
- Preparation of the End of Year report for review
- Support budget development, forecasting, budget-to-actual analysis, payroll financial reporting, year-end reporting, and other financial analyses as assigned by the Manager and Executive Director.
- Review and reconcile payroll financial data to ensure accuracy and alignment with the general ledger.
- Coordinate with HR and payroll staff to ensure proper financial reporting of salaries and benefits.
- In conjunction with the Manager, support the Executive Director during external audits to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Manager and/or Executive Director.

- Computer software proficiency such as MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Munis, and absence management system
- Knowledge of and ability to monitor compliance with federal labor laws including FMLA
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional training preferred.
- Experience with high volume computerized accounting organization (specifically MUNIS application), invoice management, and encumbrance accounting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel and Word familiarity a must.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and adjust priorities as required.
- Ability to self-start, work independently, resolve issues, and handle multiple projects.
Work Environment
- Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Fast paced environment requiring prioritization of work/projects and frequent pivoting
- Frequent collaboration with stakeholders
- The nature of this position may require hours beyond the regular school day. It is expected that the person filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
Terms of Employment
- Full time (40 hours/week), twelve (12) month position
- Salary and fringe benefits are to be established by the Superintendent in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee
- Employment subject to successful completion of background checks pursuant to federal and/or state laws

Salary : $82,500 - $95,000
