Substitute Teacher
(Daily, as needed)
Hingham Public Schools is seeking candidates to fill substitute teacher positions at all levels (prek-12). All substitute postions are on an "as needed" basis. These positions offer flexibile scheduling. Primary responsibility of the Substitute Teacher is to ensure continuity of instruction and classroom management in absence of regular teacher.
Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans, or in absence of lesson plans may need to create/develop plans and activities to provide continuity of learning
- Take attendance and ensure student safety in the classroom throughout the school day, including during breaks and transitions
- May be required to record grades, and provide feedback to the regular teacher about student progress and classroom activities
- Adapt to a variety of teaching styles, subjects, and grade levels
- Effective communication with students, staff members
- Strict confidentiality and compliance with state and federal laws around professional ethics, sensitive information about students and professional staff, information about disabilities, educational plans, behavior, learning or teaching styles, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associates degree, or completion of 60 college credits (transcripts required)
- Experience teaching students Prek-12, preferred
- Strong ethical and moral decision making
