Responsibilities
As a Senior Manager – Design and Construction with Hines, you will serve as the Owner’s representative and oversee all phases of construction projects, from conceptual planning to final delivery. You will manage large-scale base building projects, complex interior improvements, and capital projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, safety, and ownership requirements. In this leadership role, you will provide strategic guidance, oversee Construction Managers and support staff, and cultivate strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and ownership groups to deliver best-in-class projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and coordinate all construction activities across multiple large or complex projects.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Serve as primary liaison with ownership, investors, lenders, and joint venture partners on project progress, risks, and financial updates.
- Partner with the Conceptual Construction group to review designs, specifications, pricing, and contracts, providing strategic input during pre-construction.
- Oversee and mentor Construction Managers, Assistant Construction Managers, and project support staff, ensuring effective team performance and professional development.
- Direct and evaluate contractor performance with emphasis on schedule adherence, budget control, and alignment with owner’s program requirements.
- Manage architect/engineer performance and ensure design intent is translated effectively into construction execution.
- Negotiate contracts, change orders, and claims while ensuring compliance with contractual terms and financial controls.
- Oversee safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and fostering a culture of zero incidents.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor quality, resolve issues, and validate progress reporting.
- Facilitate the turnover of completed projects, ensuring all punch lists, closeout documentation, and operational handoffs are successfully completed.
- Maintain thorough project documentation and historical data for benchmarking and future project planning.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements include:
