What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wire Harness Design Engineer position at Hinduja Tech Limited?
We are looking for a Design Engineer specialized in Wire Harness to support the development, routing, packaging, and release of electrical harnesses across vehicle programs. The ideal candidate has strong experience with CATIA V5, automotive standards, and cross-functional collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, route, and develop wire harnesses and associated components using CATIA V5.
- Ensure proper packaging, clipping, mounting, and integration of harnesses within the vehicle environment.
- Create and maintain 2D/3D documentation, drawings, BOMs, and release data according to OEM standards.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Body, Interior, and Powertrain teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Support prototype builds, design reviews, DFMEA inputs, DV/PV testing requirements, and engineering changes.
- Resolve engineering issues, packaging conflicts, and implement continuous design improvements.
- Work with suppliers for harness manufacturing feasibility, cost optimization, and timing alignment.
- Ensure compliance with automotive specifications, functional requirements, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of experience designing automotive wire harnesses.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 (Electrical Harness Installation & Electrical Harness Flattening preferred).
- Experience working with OEM release systems (Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or similar).
- Strong understanding of vehicle packaging, GD&T basics, and DFM/DFA considerations.
- Excellent communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
