What we do…

HindlePower has been designing and manufacturing industrial (non-commercial) battery chargers and dc power systems for the utility industry for over 35 years. Our staff and products serve the power generation and distribution market, switchgear OEMs, power substations, the oil & gas industry, and various transportation maintenance facilities. We are the leaders in our industry and have customers in all 50 states plus additional countries worldwide.

What you'll do...

The Product Manager serves as the central point of coordination for the EPIC Department, aligning engineering, production, quality, and customer-facing functions to ensure successful product execution across the full lifecycle. This role balances technical understanding with strategic planning and cross-functional leadership to drive product consistency, specification compliance, manufacturability, and performance.

The Product Manager transforms organizational strategy into clear, actionable plans, guiding project prioritization, design enhancements, and production readiness. This role demands strong communication and analytical skills, as well as a systems-level perspective to ensure alignment among customer needs, product design, and manufacturing capabilities. Success in this position also relies on emotional intelligence—the ability to build trust, navigate diverse viewpoints, and lead with awareness across both technical and human systems, fostering shared purpose and alignment.

Strategic and Technical Coordination

  • Execute the strategy for the EPIC product family, ensuring alignment between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Act as the liaison between technical design and operational execution, ensuring new releases and design changes are production-ready.
  • Evaluate and prioritize product improvement opportunities to enhance reliability, reduce cost, and simplify manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to integrate design changes, validate technical feasibility, and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Maintain product configuration control, documentation standards, and revision integrity across all departments.

Production and Planning

  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and Group Leaders to forecast workload, capacity needs, and upcoming build priorities.
  • Work closely with Customer Service and Sales to plan product scheduling and lead times, ensuring customer expectations align with production capability and material readiness.
  • Ensure proper release and communication of production orders, drawing packages, and technical updates.
  • Support troubleshooting of product-related issues, coordinating between production, test, and engineering teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Monitor product performance, yields, and field data to identify trends and implement improvements.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with the Quality Department to define and uphold quality standards for EPIC builds.
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities to eliminate recurring issues and enhance product reliability.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of test procedures, inspection standards, and process documentation.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives within EPIC to drive efficiency and consistency.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Facilitate coordination between departments to ensure smooth product flow from design through shipment.
  • Serve as the primary communication link for EPIC product-related decisions and escalations.
  • Provide data-driven insights to leadership regarding cost, delivery, and product performance metrics.
  • Support internal communication, ensuring the team remains aligned with overall company goals and schedules.

What you bring...

Experience & Education

  • BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in product management, manufacturing, or engineering leadership.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, wiring integration, and enclosure design within industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Made2Manage a plus).
  • Strong analytical skills with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.

Professional Skills

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Ownership and accountability mindset with the ability to lead without direct authority.
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, with a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Continuous improvement orientation, leveraging data and feedback to refine processes.
  • Organized, adaptable, and effective under dynamic and evolving priorities.
  • Commitment to integrity, teamwork, and the HindlePower philosophy of improving the lives of employees.
