Job Summary
The Shear Genius Operator operates shear machinery to cut materials like metal sheets to precise specifications. The operator will load, unload, cut, and adjust sheet metal parts, set up and adjust machine settings, monitor the operation for accuracy, inspect the cut pieces, and perform light and routine maintenance. The operator may also be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues and maintaining records of production. Prima Power equipment training will be provided by Hipower.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely and consistently operate assigned equipment and machine.
- Cut raw sheet metal parts to meet 2D nests and blueprint specifications.
- Properly mark finished product with the proper part number per work orders.
- Unload parts that are formed on the press brake.
- Load storage system with raw material.
- Keep clean work area
- Ability to read work orders, identify, and solve problems as required
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Competences, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- 1 year or more of demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing setting
- Operator must have sheet metal cutting machine experience.
- Operator must be able to use calipers, tape measure, and protractor to ensure formed parts meet requirements.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is paramount.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written work instructions/procedures.
- Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
- Ability to write information as required by procedures.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

- Required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time; frequently move around the workstation/area and production floor, using PPE all the time; and able to access different areas and angles of the product being assembled, including stooping, bending, and crouching.
- Lifts, pushes/pulls, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Stands for long periods of time.
- Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and steel-toe shoes usage required.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms to operate equipment and install components or move parts/equipment.
- Visual acuity necessary to do the job safely and effectively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision work to perform inspections and in reading schematics, peripheral, profundity, blueprints, and instructions.
- Must be able to distinguish and ensure product quality in a fast-paced production environment.
- Must be able to identify, prioritize, and meet multiple expectations for the area of responsibility.
Work Environment:
- This position works in a non-air-conditioned/heated warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and some exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and gases.
