What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer/Production Associate position at Hilts Printing Innovations LLC?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This is a fluid position, meaning you'll work in different departments throughout your shift each day (graphic design, shipping, assembly, production, etc.).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Graphic Design: creating social media graphics, book cover typography, and email blasts.
- Shipping Department: some of your tasks would include packaging products into boxes and labeling.
- Assembly Department: gluing acrylic products together; assembling keychains, ornaments, and magnets; assembling special edition box sets and other paper product sets.
- Production Department: printing, cutting, and foiling products such as books, dust jackets, page overlays, and art prints.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE:
6 months with general job experience. Must have experience with graphic design (please have a portfolio we can review).
TEAMWORK SKILLS:
Must be able to communicate and work with supervisors, managers, and other team members in a professional, respectful, and effective manner.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to stand, use hand and arms, walk, hear, and talk. Will be expected to work at an efficient, fast pace. Will be expected to listen and execute tasks given by management and to complete production goals set by the company.
Ability to speak, write, and understand English in a manner that will allow you to work with your team and management effectively.
Will need to work on-site in our East Lansing, MI facility. Will be expected to arrive to work on time and to stay for the duration of the scheduled shift.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The job is in a production-based setting with some noise, dust, and temperature and humidity changes. You might stand for a while. It's either full-time or part-time. Our standard hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday (weekends and specific holidays off) – however, depending on need, we may ask employees to be available to work any of the following shifts (Monday-Friday): 7am-3pm or 9am-5pm.
PAY/BENEFITS:
New hires will be expected to complete a 90-day trial period during which both parties will evaluate if continuing employment is suitable for both parties. During the trial period, new hires will receive $15/hr.
