Dishwasher/Utility

This position is responsible for providing service to the food and beverage department in all aspects of dish and pot washing, as well as overall cleanliness of the back of house operation. Successful candidates embrace health and safety, attention to detail and strive to provide excellent relations with guests and other team mates. This front-line position is for someone who is looking to start an exciting career in the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Load / unload dishes, glassware and cutlery into our top quality cleaning machines/equipment and store clean dishes.
• Maintain back of house areas including storage rooms, kitchens, utilities, halls, bars and other service areas in a clean and safe manner
• Remove food from dishes and place dirty dishes in racks
• Wash and mop floors; power wash garbage area
• Steam clean and scrub tile surfaces
• Pick up and wheel garbage pails from back of house areas to compactors
• Sort recycling and dispose of in appropriate containers
• Comply with HGI Dover, Hilton and C&W Management policies, procedures and regulations
• Must directly or indirectly provide for excellent employee relations with co-workers
• Perform other duties, including cleaning, as assigned

What You'll Require

• Previous Kitchen Services experience and knowledge of cleaning equipment/chemicals is preferred, but not essential
• Must be able to lift, push and pull heavy objects of up to 50 lb. repeatedly during the course of a shift
• Must be able to constantly stand, walk, bend, twist and be exposed to heat, chemicals, noise, steam, odors and slippery floors
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• All employees at the HGI Dover are expected to:

• Demonstrate a positive health and safety attitude to ensure the hotel continuously provides a safe entertainment destination for patrons and co-workers.

This position will require scheduling flexibility. Typical shifts are 7A-11A weekday and 7A-12P weekends, and 5 or 6p until 9 or 10p, but may be additional hours depending on banquets. Weekends and holidays will be required. If you are willing to cross-train, there is the possibility of additional hours in our Housekeeping Department as well. A typical schedule may have both AM and PM times scheduled.
