Job Overview
The Food Prep/Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items according to Old Chicago recipes and standards. This role ensures that all food is made safely, efficiently, and consistently while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items following Old Chicago recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Set up and stock stations with necessary ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with food prep, including chopping, portioning, and storing ingredients.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, ensuring items meet brand and safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep areas, and equipment throughout shifts.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures at all times.
- Communicate with team members and managers to coordinate ticket times and guest orders.
- Assist in receiving, rotating, and storing food supplies.
- Follow checklists and complete side work as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or cooking experience preferred, but not required (training provided).
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Food Handler’s Permit or certification (as required by local law).
