Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with accuracy and professionalism
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with equipment like Hoyer lifts or catheter care
- Document patient information meticulously using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff to monitor patient conditions, report changes promptly, and ensure timely delivery of medications and treatments
- Provide compassionate emotional support to patients and their families, especially those experiencing dementia or memory care needs such as Alzheimer’s disease
- Follow infection control protocols diligently during all patient interactions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in accordance with hospital standards
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program with current licensure where applicable
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, hospice care, or assisted living communities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, medication administration support, and basic life support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
- Ability to perform manual handling safely using proper lifting techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with patients of varying needs including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
