East Hawaii Medical Group, an affiliate of Hilo Benioff Medical Center and Hawaii Health System's Corporation's East Hawaii Region, is seeking a Director of Business Intelligence to lead the hospital’s enterprise-wide data strategy, governance, and analytics. This role oversees the integration, management, and analysis of data from multiple platforms, including Epic, UKG, Press Ganey, MEDITECH (legacy EHR), and other operational and financial systems. The Director leads an effective team of data analysts and ensures data is transformed into actionable insights that drive clinical, operational, and strategic decision-making.
Salary: $130,000/year
Location: This is an on-site position based in Hilo, Hawaii (or open to a state of Hawaii resident who can be on-site in Hilo at least 25 percent of the time)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the hospital’s business intelligence strategy, building and managing a high-performing BI team.
- Oversee data governance, integration, and compliance, ensuring accuracy, security, and HIPAA standards across Epic, UKG, Press Ganey, MEDITECH, and other systems.
- Design and deliver executive dashboards, operational reports, predictive analytics, and advanced insights to support clinical, financial, workforce, and patient experience goals.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and stakeholders across operations, finance, HR, quality, and clinical teams to align BI solutions with strategic initiatives.
- Manage a team of data analysts, providing guidance, setting priorities, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, actionable insights to support organizational decision-making.
- Educate and empower leaders and staff in effective use of BI tools, promoting data-driven decision-making and self-service reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business analytics, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. (Healthcare experience preferred)
- Direct experience with Epic Cogito/Clarity/Caboodle, UKG (Kronos), Press Ganey and MEDITECH a plus, including certification in one or more platforms.
- Experience with UKG (Kronos), Press Ganey, and MEDITECH strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of building and leading BI or analytics teams in a growing, data-driven environment.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of business operations, financial reporting and workflows.
- Expertise in SQL, data warehousing, and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Epic reporting tools).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, leadership and organizational skills.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
