The ideal candidate pairs strong technical accounting expertise with business acumen and leadership. This individual partners closely with Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Tax, operations, joint venture partners, auditors, and lenders, and manages and develops a small team of accounting professionals as the function continues to grow.

 Responsibilities:

 Financial Reporting and Close Leadership

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent completion of accounting and reporting activities.
  • Own the consolidation of multiple domestic and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, supporting schedules, and management reporting packages in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Coordinate and review reporting for lenders, joint venture partners, owners, and management, including lender covenant calculations and compliance certificates.
  • Establish close, reconciliation, and review procedures that promote accuracy, accountability, and timeliness.

Technical Accounting, Audit and Internal Controls

  • Research, interpret, and apply IFRS and U.S. GAAP guidance for new transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions, financing arrangements, and evolving standards.
  • Evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of complex activities, including production sharing contracts and other international arrangements, and advise management.
  • Lead audit coordination, including audit schedules, auditor requests, and direct communication with external auditors.
  • Oversee the design, documentation, execution, and continuous improvement of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Identify accounting, reporting, and compliance risks and develop practical solutions that support business objectives.

 Business Partnership and Strategic Support

  • Partner with leadership across Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Tax, Operations, and executive management to support reporting requirements and strategic decision-making.
  • Support the accounting and reporting needs of an expanding portfolio of domestic and international investments, partnerships, and joint ventures.
  • Evaluate business initiatives, transactions, and growth opportunities from an accounting and reporting perspective, and assist with special projects and strategic transactions.

Process, Technology and Team Development

  • Develop and implement scalable accounting processes, reporting frameworks, and control environments that support growth and increasing complexity.
  • Champion technology, automation, AI tools, and data analytics to improve reporting efficiency, quality, and decision support.
  • Participate in accounting system implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, financial reporting, and technical accounting, including consolidation of multi-entity, multi-currency structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead close and reporting processes in a complex, multi-entity, international environment.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect accounting outcomes to operational drivers and broader business objectives.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting and financial matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Strong leadership presence, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and develop a team.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar) to accelerate accounting research, reporting, reconciliations, and analysis.
