Contract Power BI Developer – Business Intelligence (Hybrid | 3–6 Months)

HV is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support our business intelligence and data reporting efforts on a contract basis. This role will play a key part in building and optimizing dashboards that support data-driven decision-making across our mental health agency.
Role Summary:
The BI Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, DAX and SQL. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, billing, HR, clinical services, QA) to understand business needs, transform data into meaningful insights, and improve organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards and reports
- Gather, clean, and integrate data from various internal and external sources
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and performance insights
- Collaborate with departments to understand reporting needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Present data findings in a clear, accessible manner to non-technical stakeholders
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation and documentation
- Identify areas of inefficiency or risk and recommend data-driven improvements
- Document report logic, data sources, and key usage instructions
- Optimize existing data models and troubleshoot performance issues
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Power BI dashboard/report development
- Proficient in Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), SQL, and data modeling techniques
- Skilled in integrating data from diverse systems (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, APIs)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Ability to work independently and manage timelines effectively
- Experience with SSRS reporting tools is a plus
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in data analytics or BI development
