Facilities & Maintenance Employee:

35 Hours per Week | Monday–Friday | Year-Round | Benefits Eligible

Help Keep Hilltop School Safe, Clean, and Ready for Children Every Day!

Hilltop School is seeking a dependable, hands-on individual to help maintain our historic school building and grounds while supporting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for young children, families, and staff.

This position combines general building maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning and sanitation, safety inspections, and outdoor property upkeep. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and enjoys being part of a team where every role makes a difference.

Schedule

• 35 hours per week, year-round
• Monday–Friday
• Required start time: 5:00 a.m.
• Split-shift schedule: 5:00–9:00 a.m. and 5:30–8:30 p.m.
• Additional flexibility is required during snow and ice events and for occasional after-hours building emergencies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance, minor repairs, and basic carpentry.
• Help maintain clean, sanitary classrooms, bathrooms, common areas, and other spaces throughout the building.
• Conduct routine building, playground, and property safety checks.
• Maintain outdoor areas, including entrances, sidewalks, and walkways; assist with snow and ice removal during Maine winters.
• Help maintain equipment, supplies, and organized storage areas.
• Complete routine safety checklists and report maintenance concerns or potential hazards.
• Assist with building setups, seasonal projects, and other facilities-related needs as they arise.

Qualifications

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Ability to perform general maintenance and basic repairs.
• Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Able to work a split shift and provide additional availability during winter weather events.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, housekeeping, cleaning, or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. This position does require the ability to be able to go pick up supplies needed.
• Must successfully complete the required Maine DHHS child care background check before employment.

Pay: $18.54 per hour
