- Graduate of an accredited school of nurse-midwifery with a master's degree plus clinical experience
- Current Michigan Certified Nurse Midwife License
- BLS, NRP, and ACLS required, TEAMS certification required within one year; all are available through Hillsdale Hospital
- Provide and manage the care of women and babies during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and post-partum
- Carry out complete physical examinations including pap smear, breast exam, abdominal exam, pelvic exam and clinical pelvimetry
- Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses and care plans
- Order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, ultrasound, Rh factor, CBC, urinalysis and serology test
- Prescribe medication and recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy
- Educate patients about prevention and self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances
- Monitor patients’ conditions and maintain accurate, detailed and confidential reports and records
- Create a comfortable environment for patients, exhibiting a non-judgmental, compassionate attitude
