This Teamsters, non-exempt, safety-sensitive position reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and supervises Paint and Body Technicians.

ASE Certification Pay Provision

Under Appendix B of the 2024–2027 Teamsters agreement: “Any maintenance supervisor who meets the qualifications of Authority’s ‘ASE Certified Master Technician’ position shall receive Five Percent (5%) above the current hourly rate for that position.”

Why Choose HART

  • Connect your body shop leadership and technical experience to dependable public transportation.
  • Lead skilled technicians and strengthen workmanship, teamwork and shop safety.
  • Help improve repair workflows, control costs and make effective use of shop resources.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate daily Body Shop operations, assign technicians and other shop personnel to appropriate work areas, and manage repair order flow to match shop capacity. Monitor campaigns and track projects through completion.
  • Promote pride of workmanship, employee productivity and earnings. Identify and eliminate practices that waste supplies, utilities, space and time.
  • Assist in determining staffing requirements and training Body Shop staff. Monitor attendance, punctuality and compliance with HART policies; conduct performance evaluations and document employee behavior that may require disciplinary action.
  • Communicate employee complaints requiring management attention promptly, tactfully and with concern. Make firm, fair decisions and take constructive action to resolve problems.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and appearance. Keep equipment in safe working condition, schedule preventive maintenance and maintain control of specialized repair tools.
  • Understand and monitor Body Shop income and expenses. Obtain competitive bids for tools, equipment, subcontracted repairs and supplies, and ensure HART receives full value from outside Body Shop services.
  • Serve as the contact for outside Body Shop contracts and coordinate vendor services.
  • Assist Risk/Claims with accident and repair records, including work orders, parts and labor information in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Report to upper management any condition that could jeopardize employee or customer safety, welfare or integrity. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

What Success Looks Like

  • Quality and efficiency. Repair work progresses through the shop with clear priorities, sound workmanship and effective use of capacity.
  • Accountable leadership. Employees receive clear assignments, training, consistent feedback and fair treatment.
  • Safe, organized operations. Equipment, tools and work areas remain ready for safe use.
  • Responsible resource management. Accurate records, competitive purchasing and vendor oversight support cost control.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge of the applicable bargaining unit contract, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements, and standard office practices and procedures.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; sound analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize concurrent tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively under stress and frequent interruptions.
