Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mammography Technologist role located in Hillsborough, NJ. The Mammography Technologist will perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, operating mammography equipment, ensuring optimal image quality, and adhering to radiation safety guidelines. The role involves verifying patient history, documenting procedures accurately in the imaging system, and coordinating with radiologists and clinical staff to support timely exam interpretation. The technologist will also maintain exam rooms and equipment, assist with quality control procedures, and provide clear, respectful communication to patients to support comfort and understanding throughout the imaging process.
Qualifications
- Current registration or eligibility with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), including ARRT (R) and mammography credentials (ARRT (M)) or equivalent state requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Radiologic Technology and Radiology principles, including positioning, image acquisition, and quality assurance in mammography.
- Strong understanding of Radiation Safety practices, including ALARA principles, proper shielding, dose monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with clinical workflows in Medicine, particularly in breast imaging, including working with radiologists, surgeons, and referring providers.
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program; associate degree or higher in radiologic sciences or related field preferred.
- Valid state radiologic technologist license (if required by New Jersey) and current BLS/CPR certification.
- Experience with digital mammography, PACS, and RIS/EHR systems; prior experience in a breast imaging or outpatient radiology setting is preferred.
- Strong patient-care skills, including the ability to communicate exam procedures clearly, support patients with empathy, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to follow protocols, manage time effectively in a busy clinical environment, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
