Position Overview:
Under supervision of the Secretary II, responsible for providing secretarial support to various departments as needed or assigned.
General Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include assisting with projects and assignments as needed or assigned; Compiles and summarizes information; composes/creates narrative reports, types of routine correspondence using appropriate grammar, punctuation and spelling; maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating and destruction; operates personal computer to access basic office support software including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, etc.); operates basic office equipment; retrieves and disseminates inter-departmental correspondence as needed; opens, sorts and screens mail as needed; answers telephone, screen callers, and relays messages as needed; performs typical secretarial duties as needed; promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
Qualifications:
· Knowledge equivalent to an Associate’s Degree, plus 1-3 years of related experience, or an acceptable combination of education and related experience.
· Broad knowledge of office support software and equipment
· Ability to prioritize and multitask
· Ability to work independently with little supervision
· Organizational skills such as the ability to concentrate completely, maintain a neat and organized work area, and follow through with all tasks.
