GENERAL DUTIES
Provide support for classroom teachers and assistants working with special education students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Conduct evaluations to determine eligibility in the area of ASD.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in Special Education or equivalent experience and training
- A valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsement
- Training, experience, and expertise in educational issues for students with ASD, including, identification, instruction, behavior management, collaborative problem solving, staff development
- The ability to provide leadership to staff in area of specialization
- Good interpersonal skills to consult with and advise teachers in a variety of classroom situations
- A valid Oregon Driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-the-job travel
- Physical ability to train and/or assist staff in physical management of students in crisis
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons
- The ability to follow oral and written instructions
- The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
- The ability to work harmoniously with others
- Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
- Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
- The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
- Bilingual English/Spanish Required/Preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking two languages as determined by District screening tool)
