Position Summary
To assist the Principal, faculty, staff and parents in managing the attendance records for the school office to run as effectively and efficiently as possible. Maintains records and reports and ensures the smooth and efficient operations of the Hillsboro Alternative High School.
Essential Duties
- Answers phones in a professional manner, fields questions to the appropriate department/employee, records messages and forwards.
- Ensures that each student is accounted for on an hourly basis and calculates a daily report.
- Records daily attendance reports and makes adjustments for students arriving late or leaving school early and enters into the computer program for teachers.
- Compiles and submits end of the year attendance report with necessary supporting documentation to central office.
- Issues late passes and student trackers.
- Requests identification from those picking up students.
- Welcomes Administrators, teachers, students and other visitors to the office and conducts routine office business with them.
- Receives and distributes information to students, staff and parents.
- Types correspondence, reports, notices and recommendations.
- Makes ID badges for students and visitors.
- Ensures each student is accounted for on an hourly basis and calculates a daily report.
- Communicates and is knowledgeable of school activities, updated policies and rules and building schedules.
- Prepares correspondence, maintains filing system and answers inquiries regarding employees and other school matters.
- Records daily attendance reports and makes adjustments for students arriving late or leaving school early and enters into the computer program for teachers
- Compiles and submits end of the year attendance report with necessary supporting documentation to Central Office.
- Submits membership report to the Central Office in September and January.
- Performs duties with students as assigned by the Principal.
- Counts lunch money.
- Schedules gym/facility usage as needed.
- Assists with the collection and maintenance of records.
- Performs research and conducts annual studies of the school population as directed by the Principal.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
