Position Overview
We’re seeking a friendly, organized, and professional host/hostess to be the first impression of Hills of Herat. The right candidate will greet guests with warmth, manage seating and reservations, help maintain flow in the dining room, and support the FOH team to help deliver a polished and welcoming guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests promptly and courteously on arrival
- Manage phone and online reservations, wait lists, and seating chart
- Escort guests to tables and provide menus; inform servers of arrivals
- Manage flow of guests, coordinate with servers, kitchen & FOH to avoid bottlenecks
- Maintain cleanliness and order of host/entrance area (entry, waiting area, menus, etc.)
- Handle guest inquiries, wait-time estimations, and assist with special requests (e.g. seating preferences)
- Communicate effectively with kitchen/FOH staff about table status, guest needs, and guest flow
- Assist with light side-work when needed: resetting tables, polishing glassware/flatware, refilling water stations, clearing/ bussing as needed
- Handle, place, and package take-out orders (phone online)
- Maintain professional, mature, customer-focused demeanor — especially during busy service times
- Work collaboratively with team to support overall hospitality standards
Requirements
- Prior experience as a hostess/host or equivalent in a restaurant, casual dining or fine-dining setting preferred, but motivated and professional newcomers should still apply!
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to make guests feel welcomed and comfortable
- Organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and a dynamic guest flow
- Friendly, mature, positive attitude; able to remain calm under pressure
- Flexibility and availability — including weekends and busy evenings
- Punctual, reliable, and committed to consistency
