Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and social skills.
- Support communication efforts using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication tools.
- Facilitate participation in community outings, recreational activities, and social events to promote inclusion and independence.
- Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and service delivery to ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document medication administration accurately.
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments or activities using personal or agency vehicles while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving in a home or community setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for driving responsibilities.
- Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress and behavioral observations.
- Certification in medication administration or willingness to obtain required certifications upon hire is advantageous.
