Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

Position: Full-time

Wage: Starting at $19-23 / hour

About Us

Join our team at Hills and Dales, a non-profit organization dedicated to building meaningful lives for people with disabilities. We are seeking a passionate Certified Medication Aide to support children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities at our Residential Facility.

Responsibilities

• Administer scheduled/assigned medications accurately according to the six R's: Right Resident, Right Medication, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Route, and Right Documentation.
• Lift and position residents as required to administer treatment and/or medication.
• Monitor stock medication supply and prepare medication orders as scheduled.
• Document medication administration accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain a working knowledge of medications administered.
• Perform assigned treatments utilizing the proper procedures and techniques.
• Maintain a working knowledge of resident programs and procedures and apply them to medication/treatment tasks.
• Inform nurse on duty of medication/treatment errors that are discovered in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance to the shift nurse by observations regarding resident health and safety; follow directions provided by nurses during medical emergencies and routine daily tasks.
• Monitor nursing inventory supply and prepare supply list for items needed; maintain and stock nursing areas during assigned shift.
• Accompany residents to medical appointments, as assigned; may drive Center vehicles for errands or transportation, if an approved driver.
• Maintain resident/client privacy.
• Assure the confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data in accordance with HIPAA policy & confidentiality procedures.
• Assist with the direct support of residents as needed.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
• Work alternate or additional shifts as assigned.

Requirements

• Free of a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• Certification as a medication aide in the state of Iowa.
