SCOPE:
The Commercial Banker Relationship Manager will assist a group of commercial lenders with the primary responsibility of assisting with the respective portfolios to ensure that borrowers have timely provided the financial information needed to satisfy loan renewal requirements. This position will also assist with phone and walk-in customer requests, selling commercial loans, deposits and services to commercial customers and prospects. This position requires a working knowledge of relevant subject matters, performs under direct supervision of lending manager, and has no direct reports.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Credit Underwriting:
- The Commercial Banker Relationship Manager will assist with the underwriting process for loans originated by the commercial lending function of the bank, including:
- Determining the adequacy of the primary and secondary repayment source and analyzing supporting financial information and making an assessment of the credit quality of the request.
- Providing recommendations on loan structuring and pricing,
- Determining adherence to loan policy and reviewing credit reports
- Work closely with the lending staff to complete loan presentations for weekly loan committee meetings
- Attend loan committee meetings, as directed, and provide input during the loan discussion. This responsibility will involve communication with the lending staff and possible contact with the customer.
- Assign and document risk ratings to credit relationships, as directed. The process will involve ongoing communication with the commercial lending staff and may include communication with external loan review personnel.
Lending Responsibilities:
- The Commercial Banker Relationship Manager will be encouraged, as his/her schedule permits, to participate in the Bank's business development activities through individual and joint sales calls, represent the Bank in community organizations and promote the Bank's favorable image.
- Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for loans. Request specified information for loan application; request appraisals, obtain credit reports, reference checks, and other information pertinent to evaluation of loan application and communicate with the applicant or references to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Evaluate applicant information and documentation and make decisions on loans and terms within established lending limits, and work with supervisor, credit department staff, loan committee, or senior credit committee, as needed for higher level loan approvals.
- Attend the needs of customers seeking loans and other financial services. Counsel applicants on loan approval policy(s) and restrictions. Provide prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.
- Maintain favorable customer relations and, as appropriate, cross-sell other financial services and/or make referrals to other departments including Treasury Management, Mortgage Lending, Retail and Trust/Wealth Management.
- Actively participate in regularly scheduled office and department meetings and relevant subcommittee(s) to build on the bank's customer and co-worker experience, competitive edge, and positive culture.
- Actively maintain/service originated or assigned loan portfolio(s) by obtaining updated financial information needed to determine risk rating changes, relationship analysis, and other potential loan request opportunities.
EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in the field of business, including specific courses in accounting, finance, and economics; or a minimum of 2-3 years banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Will be required to spend 3-6 months training in the credit department.
- This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills as well as utilization of office equipment.
