About the Role
We are a fast-growing payments and financial services company in startup mode, and we are looking for a QA Engineer who is as comfortable thinking critically about requirements as they are running transaction-level test cases. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will be one of the primary owners of quality across our payments platform.
Our testing today is largely manual, and we need someone who can operate effectively in that environment while also helping us evolve toward a more structured, AI-assisted approach. You will use AI tools to accelerate your work across requirements analysis, test case generation, and documentation, and you will bring practical experience in payments and funds movement to every engagement.
What You Will Do
- Own end-to-end manual testing across our payments and transaction processing flows, including funds movement, payment initiation, settlement, and reconciliation scenarios
- Leverage AI tools to analyze requirements documents, generate comprehensive test cases, identify edge cases, and keep testing documentation current and organized
- Perform API testing using Postman to validate payment service integrations, request/response structures, error handling, and data integrity across environments
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and defect reports in TestRail and Jira, and keep Confluence documentation updated and accessible
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and operations to clarify requirements early and surface quality risks before they reach production
- Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively recommend improvements to our overall QA process
- Contribute to building a quality-first culture as we scale
What We Are Looking For
Required
- 3 to 5 years of QA experience, with a meaningful portion spent testing payments, fintech, or financial services products
- Hands-on experience with transaction testing, including funds movement, payment processing, and related financial workflows
- Practical use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to assist with requirements analysis, test case generation, or documentation workflows
- Proficiency with TestRail, Jira, Confluence, and Postman
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to document clearly and precisely in a fast-moving environment
- Comfort operating independently in a startup environment where processes are still being built
Preferred
- Experience in a startup or early-stage company where you had to build quality processes alongside daily execution
- Familiarity with ACH, card networks, or other payment rails
- Exposure to basic scripting or automation concepts, even if your current work is primarily manual
