Seasonal Chocolate Production/Packaging

We are looking for dependable and positive team players to join our candy making & packaging team!

No experience is required but food manufacturing experience is a plus. Pay starting at $15.00 per hour.

Starting rate determined by the candidate's skills and relevant experience.

Hours are 9am-5pm on weekdays- Seasonal Saturdays required. Must be available a minimum of 3 days per week in order to apply.

This is a seasonal part-time position through the Holiday season and not a summer-only role. Must be able to work through January 2027.

Position Overview:

The Chocolate Production/Packaging Personnel position is responsible for performing duties to assist the Candy Makers with the design and/or the production of products for sale in our retail stores. This is not a remote position since the essential functions must be performed at the Company’s facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

• Set-up, operate and tend to equipment operation
• Temper, measure and pour chocolate
• Read and interpret gauges
• Load and unload items from machines, carts and dollies
• Feed or place items onto equipment for processing
• Decorate products
• Inspect products; remove any damaged/broken product
• Prepare products for packaging
• Package products
• Handle ingredients and products with care from start to finish
• Write down accurate weights, measurements and lot numbers for food traceability
• Foster and exhibit a positive work environment
• Report product issues immediately to Management

· Report any hazards, injuries, or violations immediately to management

· Maintain an awareness of allergens and product ingredients

· Accurately count product/supplies, etc. for inventory purposes

· Attend and participate in employee meetings, trainings, and development as required

· Perform other related duties as assigned by Management

Other Duties:

Additional job functions include, but are not limited to:

• Clean production area
• Sweep, mop and remove debris
• Scrape waste material from machine

Language Skills:

Individual must have excellent communication skills. Individual must be able to read, write, understand and fluently and clearly speak English as required for effective teamwork and coordination to fulfill the essential functions of the job. Individual must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and procedure manuals. Must have knowledge of equipment set-up, operation and break-down. Must have the ability to take instruction and effectively communicate in English to assist Candy Makers with the production and packaging of confections. Bi-lingual skills may be helpful.

Reasoning Ability and Other Skills:

Individual must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and procedures furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have proficient computer and numerical skills and must have the ability to read, count and write accurately. Individual must have the ability to assess situations and resolve routine matters without supervision. Must have excellent understanding of health and safety and hygiene rules. Must have good attention to detail. Must have good analytical skills to identify the nature of problems, determine what is needed to rectify problems and implement new procedures to resolve the problem.

Education:

A High School degree, attending or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

Prior work experience in a production capacity is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:

Individual must be a positive team player and be courteous. Individual must be able to take instruction and constructive criticism well, work independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Individual must display a professional manner and possess good communication skills when interacting with management, co-workers and customers. Individual must have a self-awareness of their appearance/personal hygiene.

Must have excellent fine motor skills and dexterity of wrists, hands and fingers are necessary for set-up and operation of equipment and measuring and mixing of ingredients. Must be able to reach up and outward with arms and be able to bend at knees. Must have good hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. unassisted. Must have good powers of observation to spot problems with production. Must have the ability to maintain concentration for repetitive tasks. Individual must be able to move freely and easily throughout all areas of Hilliards’ facilities. Must be able to work in an environment that processes peanuts, tree nuts and other allergens.

Other Requirements:

● Individual must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule including some evening, weekend and holiday shifts to accommodate the needs of the Company.

● Must be willing, able and available to work on-site to fulfill the essential functions of this position

● Must be willing, able and available to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays

● Must be willing to cross-train to learn the essential functions of other positions, depending on the needs of the Company
