Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Assistant Director, Broward County, will oversee Hillel’s Broward County portfolio, including the Jewish student community at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), while developing innovative strategies to engage Jewish graduate and professional students. This senior professional will supervise one full-time staff member, collaborate closely with an Israel Fellow and an IACT Coordinator, build strategic partnerships with university and community leaders, and spearhead a parent engagement and fundraising initiative that strengthens Hillel’s philanthropic base.

The ideal candidate brings both strategic acumen and hands-on leadership experience, thrives on cultivating relationships across diverse constituencies, and is motivated by the opportunity to build a vibrant, inclusive Jewish campus culture.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead Hillel’s Broward County strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, goals, and growth plans.
  • Supervise and mentor one full-time engagement professional, providing coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Partner with the Executive Director in shaping long-term strategic objectives for Broward County, including infrastructure, staffing, and student engagement priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Israel Fellow to integrate Israel education, travel, and advocacy into campus programming.

Student & Graduate Engagement

  • Design and implement a comprehensive engagement plan for Nova Southeastern University and Jewish graduate students across Broward County.
  • Strengthen Hillel’s visibility and impact through meaningful Jewish learning, leadership opportunities, and campus partnerships.
  • Ensure a diverse portfolio of programs that reflect the needs and interests of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

University & Community Relations

  • Serve as Hillel’s primary representative to Nova Southeastern University’s administration, academic departments, and Student Affairs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with campus and community leaders to position Hillel as a valued partner in fostering inclusion, dialogue, and student success.
  • Collaborate with Jewish communal organizations to leverage shared resources and create a seamless ecosystem of Jewish life in Broward County.

Development & Parent Engagement

  • Partner with the Executive Director to design and implement a parent engagement and fundraising strategy that deepens relationships and grows philanthropic support.
  • Cultivate and steward parents, alumni, and community stakeholders through events, communications, and personalized engagement.
  • Identify corporate sponsors to underwrite and elevate graduate student programming
  • Support the organization’s overall fundraising goals through strategic storytelling, data management, and donor relations.

Operations & Program Oversight

  • Oversee budgets, logistics, and operations for Broward County programs.
  • Use data and CRM tools to measure outcomes and guide decision-making.
  • Contribute to organization-wide initiatives, communications, and strategic planning.
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays as needed

Who You Are

  • A strategic thinker who can translate vision into practical implementation.
  • Skilled in relationship management, partnership-building, and stakeholder engagement.
  • A leader with a strong foundation in Jewish learning and values, with the ability to thoughtfully integrate Jewish context into programs and relationships.
  • Confident in representing Hillel to university administrators, donors, parents, alumni, and community partners.
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated to grow a program within a dynamic organization.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Jewish education, organizational leadership, or related fields strongly preferred.
  • 6-8 years of experience in higher education, Jewish communal work, or nonprofit management.
  • Prior experience with Hillel is a plus.
  • Experience in staff supervision and team development.
  • Knowledge and passion for Jewish life, learning, and Israel, and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary range of $65,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, parental leave, and generous paid time off.
  • Robust professional development and executive mentoring through Hillel International’s professional network.
  • Opportunities for travel and leadership participation in regional, national, and international Hillel convenings.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven environment committed to excellence, inclusivity, and innovation.
