The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role focuses on helping children grow socially, emotionally, academically, and physically while fostering independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and classroom activities
Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and behavior guidance using positive strategies
Support small group and individual learning activities
Observe and document children’s growth and development as directed by the lead teachers
Assist with supervision during arrival, dismissal, and specials on a daily basis.Supervise lunch and recess daily
Help prepare materials and learning centers as directed by the lead teachers
Model respectful, caring, and developmentally appropriate interactions with children
Communicate professionally and respectfully with colleagues and families as needed and as directed by the lead teacher
Follow all school policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures
Support Judaic teachers when needed such as during whole group activities; Tefillah, Shabbat, Havdalah and special program rehearsals.
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children (early childhood or elementary setting preferred)
Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
Strong communication, flexibility, and organizational skillsPatience, warmth, and enthusiasm for working with young children
Demonstrates respect, professionalism, and effective communication when working with a team of teachers
Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a teaching team
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the day
Ability to go outside in 20-degree weather and above
Ability to sit on the floor with students
Ability to lift to 10 pounds as needed
