Hillcrest Psychological Associates
San Diego, CA Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 10/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/21/2027

At Hillcrest Psychological Associates, we are committed to excellence in therapeutic intervention for clients across the San Diego region. Our highly trained clinicians provide culturally informed, evidence-based therapy addressing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, grief, and more.

We specialize in serving the LGBTQ , BIPOC, and college and graduate student communities, offering an inclusive and affirming space for healing and growth. Our therapists come from diverse backgrounds and tailor their approach to each individual, drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapies, and EMDR.

Our group primarily serves adults ages 18–50, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and clinical excellence in every aspect of our work.

Our mission is to make quality mental-health care accessible while fostering an inclusive, equitable, anti-racist, and LGBTQ -affirming space for both clients and clinicians. We value authenticity, collaboration, and professional growth—offering clinical, diversity, and EMDR consultation groups, CE opportunities, and a strong sense of belonging.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Licensed Psychologist who is passionate about outpatient therapy and client care. You'll maintain your own caseload of weekly therapy clients, benefiting from a supportive infrastructure that lets you focus on the work you love rather than administrative tasks. If interested, in the future there would be the opportunity to supervise a postdoctoral associate and help shape the next generation of psychologists.

You’ll enjoy autonomy in building your schedule, a steady referral flow, and a collaborative environment where professional development is genuinely prioritized.

This is a hybrid position with opportunity to work at our Hillcrest or La Jolla location as well as from home.

What You’ll DoProvide supervision to 1–3 post-doctoral associates, fostering clinical skill, ethics, and professional identity.

  • Carry a caseload of 10–25 adult clients per week (flexible to your availability)
  • Deliver evidence-based weekly psychotherapy for low-to-moderate acuity concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.
  • Participate in consult and clinical consultation groups.
  • Collaborate with the supervisory team and leadership to maintain high standards of clinical excellence.

Requirements

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology
  • Active California psychologist license
  • Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive practice
  • Familiarity with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic approaches, or EMDR
  • Familiarity with EHRs, healthcare technology, and insurance based work a plus.

What We Offer

  • Beautifully furnished offices in Hillcrest and La Jolla.
  • Administrative support for billing, paneling, and scheduling—so you can focus on clients and supervisees.
  • Manage a low-to-moderate acuity caseload with full control over your schedule.
  • Free CE credits, professional growth pathways, and optional EMDR training.
  • Vacation on-call coverage, community events, and a team that truly cares.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with match
  • Health / Dental / Vision insurance
  • HSA option
  • Flexible schedule
  • Professional development support
